Frankie Muniz can't remember anything from Malcolm in the Middle

Frankie Muniz can't remember appearing on Malcolm in the Middle, or the time he visited Australia.

The 31-year-old actor, who is currently a competitor on the US' Dancing with the Stars, was asked on the show to recall his most "memorable" year.

"Most people think that my most memorable year would be the year Malcolm in the Middle started [in 2000], because it allowed me to live all these dreams of mine," Frankie answered on camera. "I've gotten to really do anything I’ve wanted to do, but the truth is, I don’t remember much [of that] ... It almost feels like it wasn’t me."

In the last five years, Frankie has suffered from nine transient ischemic attacks (TIA) – otherwise known as ministrokes.

The actor believes the TIA – which temporarily cut off blood circulation to the brain – have contributed to his memory loss.

"It makes me a little sad," Frankie revealed. "Things pop back into my mind [that] I should have remembered. I should have remembered going to Australia. That’s something people remember."

Thankfully Frankie has his girlfriend, Paige Price, by his side to support him.

Paige keeps a journal of events to try and help Frankie with his memory.

"I get sad of the thought of losing the memory because I know that I do, so she writes literally in detail," he explained. "She’s a writer, a journal so I can look at any day and it does bring me back. She’s very supportive."

In the meantime, Frankie's short-term memory is just fine, so remembering his steps on Dancing with the Stars hasn't been an issue.

On Monday night, he scored 24 out of 30 possible points for his quickstep performance to Coldplay's 'Adventure of a Lifetime'.
