Frank Ocean drops out of second Coachella performance and replaced by Blink-182

Frank Ocean has dropped out of the second weekend of Coachella after a disastrous appearance over weekend one.

The singer suffered "an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up" to weekend one of Coachella, resulting in two fractures and a sprain in his left leg, a rep for Ocean told People. 

In place of Frank Ocean, Blink-182 will headline weekend two. This news comes just days after the pop-punk powerhouse surprised the desert festival with their first-ever performance with the original members in close to ten years.

Ocean's original Coachella set, for which he was headlining, reportedly included dozens of ice skaters but due to the singer's injury the set had to be completely remodelled last minute.

"It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos," Ocean, 35, said in a statement. "It isn't what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I'll see you soon."

The singer has not performed live in over six years nor has he released new music either.

Fans were ecstatic when Ocean was announced as this year's Coachella headliner and began camping a day in advance of his first weekend set to secure a good spot for the show.

Then, just mere hours before being due on stage, it was announced that Ocean would not be livestreaming the highly anticipated show on YouTube which had been previously promised for the millions of fans who weren't lucky enough to get Coachella passes.

As well as this, the reclusive singer was almost an hour late to his own headlining set which angered and disappointed fans in the crowd. According to attendees Ocean seemed to have been backstage or barely visible for the majority of his set which he also decided to cut short – a whole 35 minutes before Coachella's 1am curfew.

Whilst there were a mob of disappointed fans after Ocean's lacklustre appearance – it seems one fan had the time of his life.

Justin Bieber hopped on Instagram amid the backlash to praise Ocean's brief set.

 "I was blown away by Frank Ocean's Coachella performance," Bieber wrote. "His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail... I was deeply moved."

"It made me want to keep going and get better as an artist. He continues to set the bar high and gave me a night I will never forget! Thanks Frank," he added.
