K-pop star Moonbin, member of group ASTRO, dies 'suddenly' aged 25

Moonbin, a K-pop star who was a member of the group ASTRO, has died. He was 25.

Born Moon Bin, the singer and actor was found dead at his home in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday evening. ASTRO's label later confirmed the news in a statement.

"On April 19, ASTRO member Moon Bin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky," the label's statement, shared to Twitter, read.

The note also added that the label was "deeply mourning the deceased in such great sadness and shock."

Local police also said in a statement to Yonhap News that it appeared Moonbin had died by suicide.

Before debuting as part of ASTRO in 2016, Moonbin had worked as a child model and actor.

ASTRO, a K-pop group of six members, released three albums, most recently A Drive to the Starry Road in 2022, before member Randy left ASTRO in March 2023.

Moonbin was also a member of the sub-group Moonbin & Sanha, with the duo releasing three EPs together.

He is survived by his family, including his sister Moon Sua, who is also a K-pop star in her own right, as part of the group Billie.
