The 28-year-old Sydney-raised actor's star is on the rise after showy roles in Jack Reacher, A Good Day to Die Hard and I, Frankenstein. Jai's career is set to soar even further with Divergent and his next role as time-travelling soldier Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis, alongside the Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Divergent is adapted from the young adult sci-fi novel series by Veronica Roth, telling the story of "a world divided by factions based on virtues".

"Tris [Shailene Woodley) learns she's Divergent and won't fit in. When she discovers a plot to destroy Divergents, Tris and the mysterious Four must find out what makes Divergents dangerous before it's too late," the synopsis reads.

Divergent has raked in US$136 million (AUD$146 million) worldwide and a sequel is already in the works. It's in cinemas this Thursday, April 10.
