Reality TV star Erika Jayne's ex Tom Girardi placed under temporary conservatorship amid divorce
The estranged husband of reality TV star Erika Jayne has been placed under temporary conservatorship amid their separation.
Tom Girardi did not attend a Monday court hearing pertaining to his split from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, with his brother, Robert Girardi, putting the lawyer's absence down to "medical inability".
In documents obtained by ET, it was stated that "the court finds it necessary to hold the hearing in the absence of the Proposed Temporary Conservatee to prevent harm".

It was last month that Robert field documents to become the temporary conservator of Tom's person and estate, claiming the 81-year-old has "sadly deteriorated to the point where he cannot care for himself without assistance".
"His short-term memory is severely compromised and, on information and belief, he is often not oriented as to date, time or place," the documents stated.
It was also noted that Tom is "unable to handle his financial affairs and protect his property at present, despite serious financial and legal problems".

The one-time high-profile attorney — Tom was the lawyer portrayed in the Erin Brokovich movie in 2000 — is currently experiencing legal woes of his own.
On top of his pending divorce from Erika, his wife of 21 years, Tom is being accused of embezzling money from plane crash victims, with the suit claiming he used the money to fund his extravagant Beverly Hills lifestyle with 49-year-old wife Erika.

The lawsuit filed by law firm Edleson PC — a Chicago firm who also represented some of the victims' families — allege Tom and Erika's divorce was a 'sham' to hide their assets.
"While Erika publicly filed for divorce this month, on information and belief, that 'divorce' is simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom's and Erika's money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm," the lawsuit claimed.
