British rock band Sundara Karma announce shock split: 'One of the hardest decisions'

British rock band Sundara Karma made a major announcement this week – they are splitting after more than a decade together.

The group made the announcement in a lengthy post on Instagram, revealing it was "one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make".

"After years of sharing our music with you all, we've decided it's time to close the most significant chapter of our lives so far," they wrote in their post.

"We've been a band for over twelve years and we've experienced things we could never have imagined. This journey has been nothing short of incredible!

"As we've grown, so have our hopes and dreams, and we're ready to explore new things. It's not goodbye to music – it's just time for us to step away from making music as Sundara Karma."

The group, made up of Oscar Pollock, Ally Baty, Dom Cordell and Haydn Evans, went on to insist they remain on good terms and are friends.

"One thing that remains constant as we enter this new chapter is our friendship. We are, and always will be, the best of friends. The bond we've built over these years since starting the band as kids at school has only grown stronger, and that's something we treasure as much as the music we've made together," they wrote.

They then thanked fans, who were left shocked over the announcement.

"To every fan who came to our shows, listened to our music, or supported us in any way – thank you. You've been with us through it all, and we'll forever be grateful for the love, energy, and time you've shared with us. It may sound trite to say, but we truly couldn't have done this without you."

They added: "You've made this experience unforgettable. Please stay tuned for a BIG announcement tomorrow at 10am. Loving you always & forever, Oscar, Haydn, Ally, Dom."

"Sundara Karma was part of the soundtrack of my misspent youth, but you know what they say about all good things coming to an end," one fan wrote underneath.

Another added on X: "Crying at work knowing @sundarakarma just broke up."

The Indie group announced on Tuesday that they would be putting on some final shows in December in the UK.

"Live for the last time," they wrote.
