Shock couple alert: Elon Musk and Grimes attend Met Gala together

Elon Musk and Grimes are a couple.

The unlikely duo -- he's a 46-year-old tech billionaire and she's a 30-year-old synth muso -- debuted their romance at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday.

An insider told Page Six that the romance began when they started speaking online around a month ago.

Musk wanted to tweet a joke about the complications of artificial intelligence, but through research found out Grimes had made the same joke in the 2015 music video for her song 'Fresh Without Blood'.

The source said it was the "first time in three years that anyone understood the joke."

Since then, they've been flirting a little on Twitter, leading one person to tweet, "Just ask her out already."

Musk's last known relationship was with actress Amber Heard, though they broke up nine months ago after a year-long relationship.

Us Weekly confirmed the news, with a source explaining that timing played into the end of their relationship.

"He's super busy and works all the time," they told the mag. "Amber is filming [Aquaman] in Australia until October. She's in no position to settle with him. She feels her career is just starting."

Heard was also at the Met Gala on Monday, so here's hoping there were no awkward run-ins.
