'Do not be fooled': Tom Hanks issues grim warning to 9.5 million
Tom Hanks has just issued a big warning to his fans and it's not the first time he's done so.
The Oscar-winning actor, 68, took to his Instagram today to warn his 9.5 million followers about viral AI-generated commercials that are using his likeness without his consent.
"Public service announcement from Tom Hanks," the post commenced.

"There are multiple ads over the internet falsely using my name, likeness and voice promoting miracle cures and wonder drugs," Hanks' message continued.
"These ads have been created without my consent, fraudulently and through AI."
Hanks continued to explain in the post that he has "nothing to do with these posts or the products and treatments, or the spokespeople touting these cures".

He then added that has type 2 diabetes and only works with his "board certified doctor regarding treatment."
"Do not be fooled. Do not be swindled. Do not lose your hard earned money," he emphasised in capital letters before signing off.
The post comes almost a year after Hanks shared a similar warning.
Last October, Hanks shared a screenshot of an AI-generated video that used his likeness to promote a dental plan.
"BEWARE!! There's a video out there promoting some dental plan with an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it," he wrote alongside it.
He's now warned about it twice on his own Instagram but it's something Hanks has seen coming.

On an episode of The Adam Buxton Podcast last year, the Elvis actor said that the use of artificial intelligence in film and television has been on the horizon for a long time.
"We saw this coming," he said. "We saw that there was going to be this ability to take zeros and ones inside a computer and turn it into a face and a character.
"Now that has only grown a billionfold since then, and we see it everywhere."
