Devon Sawa explains his hilarious tweet over being caught pantless

Devon Sawa had some explaining to do after he was supposedly caught wearing no pants in the background of his son's distant learning Zoom call.

The actor recently tweeted about the reality of virtual meetings and not wearing pants, when he said he had an awkward moment with his son's school teacher.

"My son's teacher via zoom: 'Hudson, can you tell your daddy to put some pants on. We can see him in the background.'" Sawa tweeted on Thursday.

The tweet went viral with fans and Twitter users explaining their experiences and difficulties with homeschooling amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the actor told ET that the incident was in fact a hoax.

"That tweet wasn't an actual thing that happened. My son's teacher never caught me," Sawa explained. "A lot of the stuff I write is just playing."

The tweet itself was actually based on a discussion with his wife, Dawni Sahanovitch, about the need to dress more appropriately when their children were having virtual classes with their teachers.

"I'm warned by my wife to 'tone it down during school time' a lot," Sawa said to ET. "I wrote that after my wife warned me that I couldn't walk around in boxers during my son's Zoom school time."

Sawa and his wife are currently self-isolating with their six-year-old son and their four-year-old daughter. The star said that the family have all been getting along, besides the occasional "hiccup."

"To say that we all sit in here like the Partridge family would be a lie," he told ET. "School has been a bit of a relief, to be honest. It breaks up four to five hours a day. The teachers have really gone the distance to pull this thing together. They are unsung heroes. They need to be paid way more for what they do."
