David and Victoria Beckham's London home reportedly burglarised as they slept inside with their children

The home of David and Victoria Beckham was reportedly burglarised with a masked intruder breaking into the premises while they were inside.

According to The Sun, the terrifying incident reportedly took place last month while the couple and their children were asleep at the $70 million West London residence.

It wasn't until later they became aware a thief broke into an upstairs bedroom of the Holland Park home.

The outlet said it was the couple's 17-year-old son, Cruz, who discovered the break-in after he returned home at midnight following a night out and saw the spare bedroom had been ransacked and its window shattered. 

"He immediately ran to wake his dad and David carried out a search of the house in case the burglar was still inside the premises," the source told the outlet.

"The family were clearly shaken up by what happened. It was very upsetting for them to find out the burglar had broken into the house while they were at home."

Police are now analysing CCTV from the property that shows the intruder "clambering over the gate at the front of the house".

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers responded to reports of a burglary at the residential address around midnight on March 1, as reported by The Guardian.

Police confirmed that a number of items were reported stolen but no arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
