David Harbour has broken his silence after ex wife Lily Allen’s accusations of cheating in her 2025 album West End Girl.
The 51-year-old actor and the singer were married for four years before they split and he admitted “it was weird” when he spoke about the claims in a new interview with Variety.

“I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that,” he added.
When the publication asked if he would like to deny the allegations made against him by Allen, he responded with, “Stories are complex.
“And that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience.
Harbour explained that personally, his ability to “transform life into art was through acting.”
The actor then spoke about his upcoming role in the HBO series DTF St Louis, where he plays an ASL interpreter and had to undergo a full physical transformation, wearing a prosthetic belly for the role.
But when it came to elaborating further on the accusations from Allen, the Stranger Things star said, “I can’t really say that much more.”
Harbour stressed that it’s his personal life and while a lot of people don’t allow him to have one, he values it.

“And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately,” he concluded.
“I just won’t speak about that.”
Allen and Harbour were first linked in 2019 and tied the knot in a Las Vegas wedding in September 2020.
In February 2025, it was announced that the couple had split, although it didn’t take long for rumours of infidelity to start swirling.

Around the same time, Allen revealed she had spent some time at a treatment centre.
“I did a lot of group therapy and some individual therapy and I just, I needed some time and space away from everything,” she said on her BBC podcast, Miss Me?
In the wake of the breakup, Allen reportedly wrote and recorded West End Girl in just 10 days.

The album raised plenty of eyebrows, with several of the tracks alluding to infidelity, gaslighting, open relationships and sex addiction.
Allen, who officially filed for divorce in September, addressed the album during an interview with Perfect Magazine, and claimed, “There are definitely some things that happened in my real life that are reflected on this record.”
“Two people who were once together are not together. And that’s really sad. It’s hard. It’s hard for me to not have my person, you know?”
