Buffy star David Boreanaz supports Charisma Carpenter amid Joss Whedon abuse allegations: 'I am here for you'
David Boreanaz is speaking out in support of his Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel co-star Charisma Carpenter.
The 50-year-old actress recently came forward with allegations of on-set abuse and misconduct by Buffy creator Joss Whedon.
"I am here for you to listen and support you," Boreanaz, who starred alongside Carpenter for years, wrote on Twitter. "Proud of your strength."
Carpenter replied soon after, writing, "I know you're there for me, David. I appreciate all you've done to demonstrate that support privately as well. Especially since Wednesday. Thank you so much."
Boreanaz portrayed Angel on Buffy between 1997 and 2003 and scored a spinoff show from 1999 until 2004. Meanwhile, Carpenter played Cordelia Chase on three seasons of Buffy and then was cast with Boreanaz in Angel.

Last week, Carpenter alleged Whedon traumatized her on set and allegedly created a "hostile" and "toxic" work environment. The actress also detailed how he'd essentially fired her when she fell pregnant with her first child.
"Joss Whedon abused his power on numerous occasions while working together on the sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel," she wrote of the show creator. "The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation and, at times, destructively."
She also alleged the director "manipulatively weaponized my womanhood and faith against me. He proceeded to attack my character, mock my religious beliefs, accuse me of sabotaging the show, and then unceremoniously fired me the following season once I gave birth."

Since Carpenter's remarks, fellow Buffy co-stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Trachtenberg, Clare Kramer, Eliza Dushku and Amber Benson have all weighed in and supported Carpenter.
