Dave Hughes taken to hospital after suffering health scare at event

Dave Hughes suffered a health scare yesterday, which left him in the emergency room.

The TV and radio personality was hosting a business event for Carlton Football Club ahead of tomorrow's AFL grand final when he began to feel faint in front of the crowd of 1500 people.

"The room started spinning like I was on a ride at the show!" the 48-year-old shared on Instagram. "Tried to talk my way through it. Got handed a chair to sit on. Everyone concerned for me."

But sitting down did little to ease his dizziness, so the Hughesy & Kate host sought medical attention and underwent scans, which came back with surprising results.

"Ended up at hospital. MRI all clear. Diagnosis = true vertigo. Never had it before! I'm all good now!" he added.

The comedian shed more details on what happened in follow-up posts, explaining that the crowd knew he wasn't feeling well and were urging him to wrap up.

"At this point I've told the crowd that the room is spinning and I could vaguely see someone bringing me a chair. I had no idea what was happening to me but I kept trying to tell jokes!" Hughes revealed. "I kept going seated! A number of concerned friends said they wanted to get up and walk me off stage. I literally needed someone to throw the towel in for me. But they didn't and I ended up doing my time!"
