Danny Clayton announces engagement to Chantelle Clain after a romantic beach proposal

Former Channel V presenter Danny Clayton is engaged!

The Aussie TV personality, 38, popped the question to his fish scientist partner Chantelle Clain in a romantic proposal at Sydney's iconic Bondi Beach.

The pair announced the happy news in a joint post on Instagram, sharing some loved up pictures from the moment and showing off Clain's stunning gold diamond ring.

"A Bondi Salties Proposal. 💍💦 Forever grateful I joined my local ocean swimming group. I love you so much," Clain wrote in the post, tagging her future husband.

In the images, Clayton is seen dropping down to one knee on the shore, with the pair in matching black wetsuits after their ocean swim.

Soon after, they embraced and Clayton picked her up in his arms. The couple then popped champagne with friends nearby.

The smitten couple have kept their relationship mostly under wraps, and barely post about each other on their official Instagram accounts, but stepped out at the Barbie premiere in July last year.

Underneath their post, some of their friends and some local stars rushed to congratulate the couple on the happy news.

"The greatest," Osher Gunsberg wrote.

"Congrats!" Pro surfer Laura Enever, who just got married herself, wrote.

Radio host Ryan "Fitzy" Fitzgerald added: "SO GOOD!! Congrats love birds, great news <3."

Clayton has had some high-profile romances over the years and was previously with model Zoe Cross.

Clayton once made headlines for telling surfer Kolohe Andino on air to "stay the f--k away from my girlfriend", accusing him of sending her texts that made her "feel uncomfortable".

He is also believed to have dated Abbie Chatfield in 2020.
