Christina Ricci seeks full custody of her son amid divorce from James Heerdegen

Christina Ricci is seeking sole custody of her five-year-old son Freddie amid divorce proceedings from James Heerdegen.

The Casper actress, 40, has requested legal and physical custody of Freddie, according to court documents obtained by US Weekly. The documents indicate that Ricci didn't request child visitation so it's uncertain whether her ex will be granted visitation rights.

Ricci listed "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, which noted June 25 as the date of their separation. The former couple were married for six years.

The news comes after Ricci was reportedly granted an emergency protective order against Heerdegen on July 1 (US time) after police attended the couple's Woodland Hills home in LA following a "domestic battery radio call". Neither Heerdegen or the actress were arrested at the scene, and it is not known who made the call, but an order reportedly prohibited any contact between the pair.

The following day, Ricci filed for divorce from her ex-husband and neither parties publicly commented on the dissolution of their marriage.

Ricci and Heerdegen started dating in 2012 after they met on the set of Pan Am the year prior. In February 2013, the pair announced their engagement and got married the same year in New York City.
