Casey Donovan wins I'm a Celebrity 2017: 'I'm proud of myself and everything I've achieved'
After more than six grueling weeks of competition and obstacles in the South African jungle, singer Casey Donovan has come out on top as this year's winner of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
The results were announced live during Monday night's finale. In the final three were the 2004 Australian Idol alum, 28, singer/actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte, 41, and retired footballer Dane Swan, 33.
As expected, co-hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris built the anticipation earlier in the evening, calling a meeting with the final three.
"Well, celebrities, I'm sure you have known this bitter-sweet moment has been coming for a while. It is time to announce our second runner-up," said Chris.
Julia continued, "Nat, Casey, Dane - the celebrity Australia has voted as the second runner-up and who now must leave the jungle immediately is... It's Nat."
The singer/actress held a brave face as she said good-bye to her castmates.
"I feel amazing. I really feel so good," she told Chris and Julia. "I can't believe I'm out. Freedom! Yeah, it's surreal. It's been an insane ride."
The announcement wasn't without controversy, however. The recently cast-off Nazeem Hussain dropped a major spoiler just 10 minutes before Nat was announced as third runner-up.
Speaking to Chris and Julia during the live broadcast, he explained that he'd be happy for any of the three remaining cast members to win, but that he was disappointed "Nat has come third.”
Awkward!
Then, he attempted to cover up the gaffe on Twitter.
