Carrie Bickmore is set to make her radio return on Monday June 15, after weeks off-air after she underwent surgery to avoid permanent damage on her vocal cords.
On the Friday show of The Hit Network’s Carrie and Tommy, co-host Tommy Little bid goodbye to Loren Barry, who had been hosting in Bickmore’s absence.

“You have been so amazing, filling in for the Queen herself, Carrie Bickmore, on this show. It saddens me to say that our time together is coming to an end, not our friendship, that’s been decades,” Little said.
He joked: “Carrie’s coming back, so never call me again.”
“Carrie, in great news, her voice is on the mend, and she’ll be back with us on Monday, which is fantastic. We can’t wait to have her back.”
In a May episode of Carrie & Tommy, Bickmore revealed she visited an ear, nose and throat specialist who’d warned her vocal cords were “in a very bad way”.
“My voice hasn’t been right for some time,” the media personality said sounding audibly hoarse.
“Things are not good, so I’m going to have to take some time off work to get it fixed. If I don’t get it fixed now, they [vocal cords] will be permanently damaged, which will be very unfortunate for my job…”
Bickmore became teary as she faced the reality of being away from work and potentially losing her voice.

“I just don’t like letting people down and I don’t like letting myself down. I also really love my job and don’t want to be forced not to never do it again,” she said shakily.
“I’m taking a little bit of time off to get it fixed. I’m hoping that if I get onto it now, it will be a non-permanent thing.”
At the start of June, the 45-year-old was hospitalised to undergo surgery to fix the issue at hand.
She shared a photo from her hospital bed to Instagram, captioning it: “Ok voice... time to come back...🤞.”
It’s not the first time this year Bickmore has found herself in hospital.
In April, Bickmore underwent surgery after a horror accident left her with a deep gash on her head and a hit nerve.
