Cameron Diaz brings back iconic hair gel scene from 'Something About Mary'

Cameron Diaz is delighting fans with a hilarious throwback to the scene-of-all-scenes from Something About Mary – the hair gel scene.

Posting to Instagram, Diaz, 49, shared a comical skit with comedian Benito Skinner that showed the comedian on his way to dinner with Diaz.

The skit was made to advertise Diaz's wine brand Avaline, which now comes in cans as well as bottles. Watch the video above.

When Skinner and a second version of himself, wearing the famous red dress Diaz wears in the film arrive at the celebrity's door, she perks up.

Diaz starred in Something About Mary in 1998, alongside Hollywood names like Ben Stiller, Matt Dillon and Sarah Silverman.

It follows the protagonist 'Mary', who is courted by a number of different suitors, in a list of hilarious ways.

In the video, Diaz wears a floral green robe and is seen opening the door to her guests.

"Then I saw her face!" Skinner exclaims, referencing the theme song from the film by Smash Mouth. He also wears a mock short blonde wig, that mimics the hilarious hair gel fringe Mary rocks in the movie.

When Diaz spots him, she suddenly flips her head over and transforms – when she jumps back up, she's also wearing a bright red dress and hair-gelled fringe.

The clip ends with Diaz and Skinner toasting two cans of Avaline wine together.

Diaz launched her wine brand with friend and fashion entrepreneur Katherine Power in 2020.

Diaz captioned the post: "@bennydrama7 bringing @avaline cans over was not the weirdest part of our dinner."

Fans loved the post, with one commenting: "This is my favourite thing ever."

"Miss you on the screen!!" another wrote.

"One of the best movies ever!" a third agreed.
