This student's Beauty and the Beast-themed prom proposal will make your heart happy

Young love, ain't it sweet?

Like we weren't mesmerised enough by the reboot of Disney's classic tale Beauty and the Beast, a student in California has gone and recreated the magic in the sweetest way.

In a video documented on Twitter, @joshuasabater shared his enchantingly elaborate prom proposal (or "promposal" as the yanks say) to his girlfriend, Valerie.

The video begins with Valerie being directed to "pick up and follow the roses."

One by one, the roses lead her up a candle-lit path, before Ariana Grande and John Legend’s rendition of Beauty and the Beast‘s title track begins to play. Next, she spots her beau, who is appropriately dressed in a Beast-inspired costume minus the fur and claws.

You can hear Valerie say with apprehension, "You're making me nervous." As she meets and hugs her high school sweetheart.

Afterwards, she shared pictures to Twitter, like only a millennial knows how. She wrote, "wasn't expecting to be asked to prom like this; a trail of candles and roses + he made the costume by himself".

No word yet on Valerie's prom dress, but we know what would give the sweet tale a Disney ending…

The clip lasts just 55 seconds, but the romance is timeless.
