Chaos as fan ambushes Ariana Grande on red carpet and co-star Cynthia Erivo steps in to intervene
Ariana Grande has been ambushed on the red carpet by a fan, prompting Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo to step in and protect her.
Videos shared on social media show the man jumping the barrier at Wicked: For Good's Singapore premiere overnight, running over to Grande and grabbing her around the shoulders as she greets fans at Universal Studios.
The actress and singer is visibly shocked, and within seconds her co-star Erivo springs into action to intervene as security guards rush to the scene.

Erivo is seen pulling the man's arm away from Grande as fellow cast members, including Michelle Yeoh, look on in shock.
The fan was soon identified as Johnson Wen, who is known online as Pyjama Man and shared the video on his Instagram.
"Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You," he captioned the post.

In his Instagram Stories, Wen, who is Australian, shared a section of another video that showed him being held to the ground by security after the incident.
In a final post, he claimed he was "free after being arrested."
"I dreamed about meeting her and now my dreams became true," he told NBC News after the incident.

Wen has previously rushed celebrities at public events, sharing the videos online. Earlier this year, he crashed the stage during Katy Perry's Sydney concert.
Under the video from the Singapore premiere, commenters have condemned the actions and defended Grande.

Another referenced Grande's past "trauma", likely the deadly terrorist attack at her Manchester Arena concert in 2017.
"After all the trauma Ari has been through, this is beyond disrespectful," they wrote.
"Not just to her, but to the cast and to all the fans. It's literally infuriating."
