The most unforgettable moments from the 2023 ARIA Awards
Australian music's night of nights has officially come and gone, but it was chock full of moments you won't forget easily.
The 2023 ARIA Awards red carpet is done and dusted, the stacked lineup of performers, presenters and hosts – which included global superstars as well as local talent – have faced the cameras, and now it's time for the afterparty.
While the who's who of the industry are dancing the night away, let's relive some of the ceremony's most memorable moments.

Genesis Owusu wins Album of the Year
Ghanaian-Australian rapper and musician Genesis Owusu took out the award for Album of the Year and used his final speech to address the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
"Ceasefire now, ceasefire now, ceasefire now. Free Palestine," he said ending his speech.

Those lyrics have lived rent free in Australians' heads since 2003. Exactly two decades since the Australian alternative rock band released that first and lead single from their debut record Get Born, they have been forever etched in music history, inducted into the ARIA Awards Hall of Fame.

Dolly Parton's heartfelt message to her Aussie fans
The Queen of Country herself made a – virtual – appearance, presenting Fanny Lumsden with Best Country Album for Hey Dawn.
But before she revealed who was taking home the ARIA Award, Dolly Parton issued a heartfelt message to her Aussie fanbase.
"Hello to all my devoted fans in Australia, it's great to see country music doing so well Down Under," she said.

Kylie Minogue wins first ARIA Award in 21 years
Tonight began with Kylie Minogue not having won an ARIA Award in 21 years – and that streak has officially been broken.
Australia's pop princess has been nominated many times over the years, notably most recently in 2021 before this year, but hadn't taken an ARIA Award home since 2002. Until now.
She won Best Pop Release for Padam Padam, and delivered her acceptance speech virtually.
"Thank you so so much, Padam to you, Padam to everyone and thank you so much Australia for this," she said.
"This is just unbelievable and I am super, super happy. I'm only sad that I'm not there with you in-person.
"Have the best, best night and I'm sending you all the love that I can muster."
Minogue is currently doing her residency in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to end in May 2024.

Taylor Swift won Most Popular International Artist. Stan
Taylor Swift once again attends the ARIA Awards... this time virtually
Three months before she's set to visit our shores, Taylor Swift has once again attended the ARIA Awards... virtually (she has actually physically attended before, in 2012).
Swift delivered an acceptance speech via video message after nabbing the Most Popular International Artist ARIA Award.
"Thank you so much for this award," she said. "This means so much to me because it's voted on by the fans and I get to see my amazing fans in February so soon and I just can't wait.
"So I wanted to say thank you to you guys for voting and also thank you to the ARIAs for celebrating the relationship that artists have with our fans. Love you guys."

Dan Sultan took home the gong for Best Adult Contemporary Album. Stan
Sultan's wife Bronnie Jane Lee was in the audience. Stan
Dan Sultan breaks down during emotional speech
Dan Sultan took home the ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album for his self-titled album Dan Sultan, and his acceptance speech tugged on the heartstrings.
He first and foremost thanked his "beautiful wife" Bronnie Jane Lee and their two children, whom he says "undoubtedly saved [his] life".
He also thanked his parents, brother, and Bronnie's family, plus his team.
Sultan also gave a special shoutout to Midnight Oil, who "in 2020 when the phone went very quiet, they made it very public that they were [his] friends and that's something that [he'll] never forget."

Red carpet near-miss
Christian Wilkins stepped out on the red carpet in a stunning nude dress from the Skims x Swarovski collaboration, revealing the jaw-dropping dress almost didn't arrive in time.

Speaking to his red carpet co-host Bridget Hustwaite, Christian explained that he ordered the dress the day the collaboration dropped and had it shipped to a friend in LA who then forwarded it onto him in Australia.
"It just arrived last night," he laughed.
Sneak peek at unfathomable jewellery decision
Richard Wilkins spoke with his son and ARIAs red carpet host, Christian Wilkins, on Today ahead of the ceremony.
"I'm very excited, I'm very honoured to be the host of the Toblerone Diamond Edition Red Carpet and see some of the incredible looks people are wearing," said Christian.
Viewers also got a sneak peek of singer Dami Im's outfit in the form of a stunning 22-carat diamond necklace, including a real Toblerone praline.
"The ARIAs can go for a while, so if she gets hungry, she can have a snack," teased Christian.

In true dad fashion, Richard also made sure to check that his son had brushed up on his knowledge ahead of a big afternoon interviewing celebs on the red carpet.
"I've done all my homework, I've been up until 2am, and I am so ready," he replied.
