Stop everything: Married At First Sight's Simon and Alene might be back together

What's that? The faintest glimmer of hope on an otherwise dark and dreary day?

YES. YES, IT IS.

Married At First Sight's Simon McQuillan and Alene Khatcherian might be dating again. Or at least they're incredibly friendly exes.

The pair – who broke hearts everywhere when they announced their split last month – attended the Ipswich Cup over the weekend together. And according to season 4 co-star John Robertson, things seemed very amicable.

Replying to a fan's comment asking if Simon and Alene were back together, John wrote, "I've heard not but they looked pretty cosy to me 😄😄."

The MAFS stars attended the race alongside fellow participants Lauren Bran, Jesse Konstantinoff, Sean Hollands, and Nadia Stamp. (Anthony Manton commented that he couldn't attend due to "work commitments".)

AND THEN, on Monday, Simon shared this beautiful selfie with Alene from the day.

"Pls get married!!!! You twos meant to be together," screamed one fan in the comments.

Assumed another, "You guys back together yayay😍😍 so cute!!!"

OK, yes, they could just be extremely mature and amicable exes who are toying with our emotions. But maybe, just maybe true love has prevailed.

Simon and Alene first announced their breakup in a May 30 statement to TheFIX.

"It was a difficult decision but we have decided to part ways," the pair said. "We remain the greatest of friends and we will continue to be part of each others’ lives. We thank you for your privacy at this time."

While rumours swirled that Simon had left Alene "heartbroken" and was already back on Tinder, she seemingly shot down the drama speculation.

"This is how I know what's going on in my life!" she captioned an Instagram photo of Woman's Day's story about the split. "They keep me up to date."
