Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are negotiating legal single status although divorce is not yet finalised
Their 10-year relationship was nowhere near traditional so it's only fitting Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have an unconventional separation, too.
The paperwork for their divorce is far from being finalised, but already the former couple both want to be seen as officially single and not legally married in the eyes of the law, according to The Blast.
As they continue to divide their assets, Pitt and Jolie are asking the judge for a "bifurcated judgment," which basically means they will both already be considered as divorced and single, although the paperwork on their divorce is not yet finalised.

"Both want to get on with their lives and no longer want to be married to each other," reported The Blast, adding that the rush in proceedings has nothing to do with potential new partners in their lives but because they both need to "emotionally move on." Earlier this year, Pitt was linked to Charlize Theron, claims the actress rubbished last month.
If a judge approves the bifurcation, he will hand Pitt and Jolie single statuses effective immediately.
According to The Blast, it could still be several months before their divorce is finalised. It's believed the reason the couple's final settlement has dragged on since their 2016 split is because their finances are likely entwined and will take months to sort through.

Helping to speed things along is the fact Pitt and Jolie have both already approved the custody agreement regarding their six children, Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
"A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge," Jolie's lawyer, Samantha Bley DeJean, said in December. "The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial."
