'Build your own safe space': Ana de Armas reveals why she left Los Angeles to move 'off the grid'

Actress Ana de Armas has spoken about stepping back from the Hollywood hills and leaving Los Angeles to move to Vermont.

The Cuban and Spanish star, 36, told E! News she feels like she's living "off the grid" in her new rural home in the United States.

"We all want to have the chance to build your own safe space. I've made that decision myself," she explained at a Toronto Film Festival premiere.

"I feel like nowadays, we all want to go away from the craziness of the world.

"I can collect myself and only bring there who I want to be with. I have my little cocoon there."

De Armas, who dated Ben Affleck, is known for portraying Marilyn Monroe in the 2022 film Blonde, which earned her an Oscar nomination.

The star previously revealed she asked the late Monroe for permission to portray her in the film by leaving a letter on her grave.

She explained that the crew on the production wanted to pay tribute to the Hollywood icon.

"We got this big card and everyone in the crew wrote a message to her. Then we went to the cemetery and put it on her grave," de Armas told AnOther Magazine

"We were asking for permission in a way."

She added: "Those final scenes at her house – I know she was there with us."

"We all felt it. And I think you can feel that in the movie."

De Armas is also a Bond Girl, she recently starred in the James Bond blockbuster No Time To Die.
