The beloved Aussie drama has always had a knack for surprising its audience, and the non-linear storytelling of Season 5 sparked both admiration and some confusion from fans.
Below, we've wrapped up everything you need to know about the final episodes and spoken to Bump's co-creator Kelsey Munro about the unique narrative decision:
What happened in the final season of Bump?
The final season of Bump didn't shy away from tackling life's highs and lows.
The most poignant moment came in Episode 9 when Angie, played by Claudia Karvan, lost her battle with cancer and tragically passed away.

This emotional moment was balanced by the series finale, which flashed back to a time before Angie's death and centred on Oly (Nathalie Morris) giving birth to her second child, Angelo.
Bump series' co-creator, Kelsey Munro, revealed that the ending was always part of the show's DNA.
"Certainly, the idea of kind of bookending the series with Oly's two births was something we've had since really early on," Munro explained in an exclusive interview.
"[Oly] goes into labour unexpectedly in the very first episode, and we always loved the idea of her coming back around to that experience in the final episode."
This symmetry not only honoured the show's beginnings but also gave fans a hopeful conclusion, reminding them of the resilience and love within Oly, Santi (Carlos Sanson Jr.) and their family.

The final narrative decision
The choice to tell the final season out of order – showing the family two years after Angie's death in Episode 8, then Angie's passing in Episode 9, and finally the Angelo's birth before her death in Episode 10 – divided some fans.
Munro acknowledged the controversy but stood by the creative decision.
"We knew going into this season that we were going to lose Angie, and we didn't want to leave the audience sitting in the awfulness of that," she said.
"The way we structured it, we led the audience with the emotion and joy of Oly's birth, so by the time you see Angie's death, you've already met baby Angelo and seen the family two years later.
"It's real – it's life. You lose people you love, and you have to find a way to live with it."

Angie's death was a deeply emotional moment, both on-screen and behind the scenes. Munro and the production team welcomed end of life consultant Zenith Virago to help bring authenticity to Angie's final moments.
"We wanted it to feel real and grounded," Munro shared. "It was confronting for us in the writers' room. A lot of the wisdom in that episode came from end-of-life counsellors we spoke to, and the response has been extraordinary. People have told me it's opened up conversations within their families about illness and loss, which is really touching."

Despite its emotional weight, Bump ended on a note of optimism.
"We wanted to leave the audience feeling hopeful," Munro said. "Meeting baby Angelo in Episode 8 gives a sense of where the family is headed. They're happy, they're thriving, and they're going to be okay. Oly and Santi's love has endured."

As for whether fans will ever see more of Oly and Santi's story, Munro hinted at the possibility but didn't make any promises.
"People love these characters, and I would love to see a way to spend more time with them," she said.
