Brittany Hockley airs her pregnancy ‘feud’ with husband and hints at baby name
Brittany Hockley and Ben Siegrist have confessed live on Today Extra that they have an “ongoing feud” about whether to find out their child’s gender before birth.
The Life Uncut podcast host and her Swiss footballer husband also revealed one of the names in the running for their unborn baby, and it’s very uncommon.

Siegrist is desperate to know if they’re having a boy or a girl, while Hockley wants to keep it a surprise until their little bundle of joy arrives.
“We have the envelope [with the gender written inside] and I had to seal it, so that I know if he’s opened it,” Hockley revealed.
Siegrist said he wasn’t bold enough to sneak a peek at the gender and hide it from his wife, but hinted that he was trying to convince Hockley to let him open it.
She was having none of it.
“Can I say ‘it’s my vagina on TV’? My body’s doing it for nine months and I think if you cannot decide, it comes down to who has the vagina it’s coming out of,” Hockley said.
Siegrist then revealed they’re also struggling with a dilemma over baby names.
“If it’s a girl we have the name nailed down, if it’s a boy we’re not quite sure,” he said.
Hockley added that she also has to keep an uncommon family name in the running.
“One child in each generation has to take the name ... and I have this name, and I’m supposed to pass it on. The problem is, the name is a condiment,” she said.
“The name is Mayo.”
She clarified that it would be used as a middle name, not a first name.
Elsewhere in the segment, Hockley opened up about her decision to keep her pregnancy a secret from longtime friend and podcast co-host Laura Byrne until she hit the 12-week mark.
“It’s very exciting. I feel like it was a long time coming,” she said.
Hockley also touched on her fertility journey, which kicked off when she and Siegrist failed to fall pregnant naturally despite several years of trying.

“We found out we’re both the problem, which is nice,” she said.
“Because I thought I was the problem for a while. It was OK if I was, but it’s nice to share the load and know that we both have fertility issues.”
They went down the IVF track, which Siegrist said was a real journey for him as a male partner.
Though he wasn’t able to take on many of the physical demands of IVF, he was always there to support Hockley and encouraged other men to do the same.
“Ben plays professional football, he’s surrounded by all these men in the locker rooms all day, and it’s really nice to hear after us speaking about it [fertility] his own teammates from all teams all over the world reach out and say it’s nice for somebody to speak about it, like another man,” Hockley added.
“The number one thing is to realise you’re not alone when you go through it.”

Siegrist has also been doing all the cooking while they’re expecting, which Hockley couldn’t be more grateful for – because she’s a self-confessed terrible cook.
When asked if he was hoping their first child would be “a little football star”, Siegrist said it’s hard to know that when he and Hockley don’t even know the gender yet.
If she gets her way, they won’t find out until the nine months are up.
