VIDEO: Blue Angels pilot performs sneak pass on unsuspecting crowd

Surgeons, firemen, veterinarians – they’re all respectable, upstanding professionals that you trust with the things most important to you.

Pilots are the same - we trust them with many things.

We trust them not to bloody crash and kill everyone on board for starters.

We trust them not to get lost when the GPS decides to re-route somewhere between Sydney and London.

We trust them to flick the little orange seatbelt light on before turbulence hits so we don’t spill any of our precious overly-priced, overly-bitter in-flight coffee.

They’ve got our backs.

But as this video shows some have a real sneaky streak.

This clip captured and uploaded to YouTube by Brendan Peterson shows the moment a pilot from the Blue Angels - the US Navy's flight demonstration squadron - performed an incredible sneak pass above a waiting group of spectators at Chicago’s annual Air and Water Show.

Armed with their phones in anticipation of a Blue Angels fly-by shot for their Instagram account, the crowd has no idea what’s approaching from behind.

It’s not till the jet’s overhead, and the sound of its engine catches up, that the crowd notices and collectively soils themselves.

The video post has gone viral with a whopping 115,000 views on YouTube.

The Blue Angels is the US Navy’s flight show squadron – established in 1946 to show off the aerobatic talents of Navy and Marines pilots.
