Country star Bailey Zimmerman issues apology as he faces criminal charges after show cancellation

Country music star Bailey Zimmerman has issued a public apology after he allegedly caused $16,000 of damage to his hotel room and abruptly cancelled his New Mexico show.

The 26-year-old singer is reportedly facing multiple charges, including criminal damage, after he was accused of trashing his hotel room hours after he was supposed to perform.

Zimmerman told fans they “deserved better” in a statement shared to Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday.

“I want to address the events surrounding my cancelled show in New Mexico in May and the reports that have followed,” the singer began.

The alleged incident reportedly took place on May 27, before and after a planned concert at the Sandia Resort & Casino. Zimmerman cancelled the show last minute due to “not feeling well”.

The next day housekeeping allegedly found more than $16,000 worth of damage to Zimmerman’s hotel room, including an unpaid $400 alcohol charge, as per Entertainment Weekly.

In the statement, the singer apologised to “the Pueblo of Sandia” and everyone at the resort.

“I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful,” he continued.

“I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.”

The Rock and a Hard Place singer then apologised to fans for cancelling the show just hours before it was set to begin.

“I am so sorry, you deserved better from me,” he continued in the statement.

“I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused.”

The country singer said he took the matter seriously and was doing the work to “learn and grow”. He thanked his fans for holding him accountable.

Zimmerman took to Instagram as he cancelled the May 27 and May 30 shows, writing at the time: “It’s so hard for me to have to say this, but I have to reschedule.”

“I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through, but I’m not able to give you all the show you deserve. I hate letting y’all down and was really looking forward to these shows, but I gotta take care of myself so I can get back out there stronger,” he wrote.

Zimmerman is currently on the road for his first-ever arena tour, the Different Night Same Rodeo Tour supporting his 2025 album of the same name.

He will be bringing the tour to Australia in October.
