'He's just that guy': Kieran Culkin confirms long-time rivalry with former co-star Michael Cera on episode of Hot Ones

Kieran Culkin has confirmed a hilarious, long-standing rivalry with his former Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World co-star Michael Cera.

The Succession and Home Alone star, 41, appeared alongside the Juno actor, 36, in the 2010 comedy action movie and again in the Broadway production of This Is Our Youth.

During that time, the pair struck up a close friendship – but there was one part of Michael's personality that Kieran couldn't help but be frustrated by.

"He's also wildly competitive, but under-the-radar," Kieran explained during an episode of Hot Ones.

"I'll teach him a game I've been playing for years and say, 'Here, I'll sort of teach you how to play and I'll go easy on you,' and then he whoops my arse and I can never beat him again. He's just that guy.

"He plays like every instrument and he taught himself how, it's like 'f--k you'. He's like, 'what's this? Oh I can play it, I'll play it better that you.'"

Michael's competitive spirit does not just come out among friend's either, as Hot Ones host Sean Evans recalled the actor's 2018 appearance on the series.

"I was like, 'How were the wings? How was it?' [and he said] 'It was fine'," Kieran explained, mimicking Michael's casual shrug.

Sean recalled Michael was "famously, wholly unaffected".

During the viral talk show, celebrity guests are asked hot questions while eating increasingly hotter wings, often with hilarious results.

"He comes here on my show, handles the wings better than me," Sean said.

"Yeah, stop being perfect dude," Kieran replied. "Get out of here."

During the episode, which you can watch on 9Now, the star also spoke about his experience hosting Saturday Night Live almost 30 years to the day since he first made three cameos when his brother Macauley Culkin hosted.

Plus, he revealed his favourite ever insult from his wisecracking Succession character Roman.
