Identical twins Anna and Lucy in tears as they realise their radical pregnancy plan might not be possible on Extreme Sisters

For as long as they can remember, identical twin sisters Anna and Lucy DeCinque have done everything together.

Now 35, they hope to experience motherhood together but under one very strict condition – that they fall pregnant at "exactly the same time".

In an episode of Season 2 of Extreme Sisters – which you can stream for free on Extreme Sisters – the sisters grappled with the reality that this may not be possible.

The Perth based sisters already faced roadblocks on their journey to motherhood at a previous doctors visit.

They were met with bewildered looks when they revealed they wanted to fall pregnant to the same man at the same time.

Anna and Lucy share a fiancé, Ben, and the trio have been happily in a relationship for 11 years.

According to their doctor, Anna and Lucy have a 1 in 36 chance of falling pregnant together but that's not good enough odds for them.

"We were trying to have babies, we have decided to put it on hold for now. There have been a lot of difficulties," Ben told cameras.

Anna and Lucy became emotional as they realised that they may have to give up on their dreams to start a family.

"Motherhood is beautiful but if I'm not doing it with my sister, I'm not doing it at all.

"It can't happen. It won't work. I don't even want to think about it because I know we'll be miserable."

The sisters cried at the thought of not being mothers but were willing to sacrifice it to live their lives identically.  9Now

But Anna and Lucy's mum Jeana didn't want the girls making any rash decisions and encouraged them to pursue their dreams of having kids even if it meant doing it at different times.

"I just don't want you to give up on anything. Experiencing motherhood, for me it was just magical and I'd love you two to be able to have that same experience," Jeana said tearing up.

"As a mother you don't want your girls to dip out on something and then be sorry about it later.
