Parents of 14 reveal the astonishing amount they spend on monthly groceries on Doubling Down with the Derricos

Sleepless nights and sibling squabbles... life is hectic for any family with kids, but multiply that by 11 and you have the family of Doubling Down with the Derricos.

Deon and Karen Derrico are parents to 11 children – Darain, 13, Derrick, eight, twins Dallas and Denver, seven, quintuplets Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daician and Daiten, five, and finally another set of twins Diez and Dior, two.

But at the time of filming Episode 1 – which you can watch for free on 9Now – Karen is also pregnant with another set of triplets, meaning 11 is soon set to become 14! 

The pregnancy would be Karen's fourth set of back-to-back multiples, each conceived completely naturally.

"We both have multiples on both sides of our family, but we have the most multiples that anyone has ever heard of," dad Deon told cameras.

"It has to be some kind of Guinness World Record."

Caring for a standard family of four is expensive enough, but when Karen and Deon reveal their monthly grocery spend you'll likely have a newfound gratitude for your own bill.

"The amount of money that we spend on groceries… oh my gosh. [USD] $2500 to $3500 a month easy!" Karen discloses.

That's around $5,350 Aussie dollars a month!

Deon also gave viewers an idea of just how many supplies the family go through in a single week.

"In a week we go through 15 boxes of waffles, 20 rolls of toilet paper, 18 loads of clothes a week," he said.

Just how do Deon and Karen provide for their mammoth family? Karen is a stay-at-home mum while Deon is a real estate investor.

"This is our life, we chose to have a large family we also chose to make sure that we can provide for our large family," Karen told cameras.

With a knack for conceiving multiples, Karen and Deon know what they're in for as they prepare to welcome a set of triplet in the coming months.

At 24-weeks Karen goes to her doctor for a routine scan, but there is something that has her so nervous she bursts into tears.
