Immediately turning $10,000 into six figures sounds too good to be true – but it's surprisingly achievable for anyone looking to sell their home.

Budget Battlers Jess Eva and Norm Hogan teamed up to renovate a house in the Victorian town of Mirboo North belonging to Richo, who sadly passed away leaving behind his three kids, Danni, Roxy and Andrew.

With a budget of just $10k for the reno, the goal was to sell their dad's home to set them up as much as possible for the future.

Budget Battler airs on Wednesdays at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

As Jess said, this episode was the perfect blueprint for any battlers looking to turn a 10k investment into a six-figure return.

The focus was on three big value adds: flooring, bathroom and paint.

Plus, to maximise profits, it was all about staying neutral.

The impact of the plan was evident all over, but especially in the kitchen – and as they say, kitchens sell houses!

All that was updated was the flooring and a fresh lick of white paint on the bench, but the difference was staggering.

After just five days of work, the siblings could not believe the transformation of their dad's home.

"It's a beautiful home and it's even better now," Roxy said.

"It's functional for a family to move into now," Andrew agreed.

The valuation

Before the reno got underway, local agent David Tree met with Budget Battlers' investment mentor Lachlan Vidler.

"It needs a bit of a spruce, a little bit of love, but it's a great, cute little cottage," Dave reacted.

Afterwards, Dave was blown away by the added value.

"Everything that you've done has just made it super appealing to the buyer," he gushed.

Prior to the renovation, Dave and Lachlan valued the home at $350,000.

Just five days and $9.5k later, Dave felt it would now fetch at least $450,000.

"With what you've done and the stamp you've put on it, it's move in ready – and that's what the people want," he said.

The three siblings were hoping that the sale of their dad's home would help them each get on the property ladder themselves.

"One house equals three, that's the Budget Battler way," Jess said.
