All you need is $350 to give your kitchen a facelift that could help add up to $200,000 in value to your home – and it's all thanks to one handy hack.

Budget Battlers Jess Eva and Norm Hogan teamed up to renovate late Indigenous elder Aunty Valda's Brisbane family home in five days with just a $10,000 budget.

They spent just $350 to overhaul a 50-year-old kitchen that ended up "looking like a million bucks". Keep reading to see the incredible before and afters:

With the help of painter Glen, Jess transformed the existing kitchen benchtops with a coat of polyurethane.

Step one was to clean up the existing benchtops with a good sand. Then came the undercoat and two-pack polyurethane to finish it off.

The pair debunked claims it was a "cheap and nasty" solution with Glen assuring that with a bit of care these updated countertops "would last decades".

That wasn't the only handy hack Jess and Norm used to keep costs down.

After knocking some walls down, Norm took the leftover VJ panelling to craft his very own waterfall laundry bench.

"It looks like $1 million and cost about $5," he said.

The valuation

Before the reno got underway, local buyers agent Jayden Hurvitz checked out the Milton home.

"It's got good potential, it's a nice level piece of land but I feel like it needs a lot of help and a lot of love," he said.

After hearing Jess' plans to transform it for just $10,000 he said he simply "didn't believe it".

Five days later he returned and the results were "not what [he] was expecting".

"I would say this has increased the value of the property by at least $100,000 to $200,000," Jayden concluded.

Budget breakdown

You'd be forgiven if like Jayden you assumed it was impossible to pull off a $10,000 reno.

But the proof is in the pudding. Here's a full budget breakdown.
