Man stabbed with three-prong spear during family clash

A man has been struck in the back with a three-pronged spear at a gathering of about 100 people in the Northern Territory.

Police said they were called to a disturbance between two family groups at a home in the town of Wadeye before midnight on Monday.

A spokesperson said some were allegedly armed with weapons including compound bows, spears and metal objects.

A 22-year-old man was left with serious injuries after allegedly being hit by the spear.

Police made their way into the home, escorted the man from the property and took him to the Wadeye Health Clinic for treatment.

A car at the back of the property was also set alight after allegedly being surrounded by members of one of the groups.

Police have not identified the vehicle’s owner.

More police were called to help with the response and restore order.
