A woman has been charged after allegedly stealing artworks from the electorate office of West Australian Labor MP Josie Farrer and defrauding the state government.

Police claim the 34-year-old altered the cost of airfares and accommodation on an invoice for a trip and later submitted it for reimbursement to the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

They also allege the Derby woman altered a computer equipment purchase invoice and stole five artworks on display in the office.
