Alert levels downgraded for fires in WA
A bushfire alert for parts of the Shire of Denmark in Western Australia's south has been downgraded, with firefighters gaining the upper hand on the blaze.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services had earlier warned of a possible threat to lives and homes in parts of Shadforth, Scotsdale and the Denmark township.
DFES says the fire is now contained and under control and there is no threat to lives or homes.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Meanwhile, an accidentally sparked bushfire that was threatening lives and homes in the state's Great Southern region has also been contained and controlled.
The blaze in Hopetoun triggered an emergency warning on Tuesday morning.
It is now stationary, but hot and gusty winds may get it moving again.
DFES says 200 hectares have been burnt.
The alert levels for both blazes have been downgraded to an advice.
