Safety reminder ahead of NYE fun in WA

New Year's Eve revellers in Perth will have no shortage of fun events this year but partygoers are being warned to stay safe while ringing in 2016.

New Year's Eve will be a sunny 31C, while New Year's Day will be 33C, ensuring Perth beaches will be packed.

There will be several fireworks displays on New Year's Eve, as well as activities for young families, concerts and themed events at popular bars.

The annual Perth Cup will be held on January 2.

But WA Police warn revellers to stay safe and respectful during the festivities.

"Extra policing resources will be dedicated to entertainment precincts and popular areas, and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated," a spokesperson said.

"Police will also be highly visible on our roads and will be actively targeting those who breach the road traffic laws."

Transperth spokesman David Hynes said train services would run until 5am, while additional bus and ferry services would also be operating throughout the night.

"You can easily leave the car keys at home," he said.

"If you're travelling on public transport, be patient and considerate of your fellow passengers."
