Retrial set for WA drug dealer drowning
A Perth man accused of strangling his drug dealer, then leaving her unconscious in a pond where she drowned, will face a three-week retrial in October.
Diana Matthews was strangled in a car and her body dumped at Rockingham Regional Memorial Park in April 2011.
After a two-week murder trial, a jury was unable to unanimously agree that Allan Bradley McIntosh caused her death.
The Supreme Court trial had heard Ms Matthews was only unconscious after being strangled and she had actually drowned about three hours later.
The prosecution argued McIntosh killed Ms Matthews to steal her drugs and money, while the defence accused another client of doing it because she was denied free amphetamines.
McIntosh, who is currently on remand at Hakea Prison, will face trial again in the same court from October 5.
