Death of homeless man deemed suspicious
A homeless man who was found dead outside a Perth church had significant injuries and may have been murdered, police say.
Police said the 48-year-old man was found at the top of stairs at the entrance to the Metrochurch on the corner of Beaufort and Aberdeen streets around 8am on Sunday.
"While a post mortem is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the man's death, he had significant injuries," Detective Senior Sergeant Tom Mills told reporters on Monday.
Det Sen Sgt Mills said the man may have been murdered.
"We haven't ruled anything in or out," he said.
"He certainly had some blood on his face."
The man was known to police, he said, and had been seen sleeping near the entrance to the church on Saturday night.
His next of kin are yet to be notified.
Police are calling for information from the public, including anyone who may have driven past and captured dashcam footage.
