A 40-year-old homeless man has appeared in a Perth court charged with the stabbing murder of an acquaintance.

Benjamin Terry Egan, 38, was found with multiple stab wounds at a short-term accommodation facility in Northbridge on Tuesday, and later died at Royal Perth Hospital.

Daniel Carrington, also known as "Macca" McKenzie turned himself in to police after a public appeal and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on April 26.
