People in Western Australia's Kimberley region are being urged to take action as flooding continues.

A tropical low lies between Derby and Fitzroy Crossing and is producing widespread showers and thunderstorms throughout the region, with up to 100mm of rainfall recorded in some isolated areas on Tuesday.

A flood warning has been issued for the Ord River Catchment, Cape Leveque and the North, West and Interior Kimberley districts.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said residents should prepare their emergency kits, relocate equipment and livestock, and stay out of rivers and storm drains.
