A 60-year-old man who admitted murdering his 82-year-old neighbour in Perth has mental health issues, a court has heard.

Allan Pedersen was found injured at his Orelia home on February 6 and was taken to hospital but died that night.

When Michael Andrew Dalton faced Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court earlier this year and said he was guilty, magistrate Jan Whitbread refused to accept his plea until he received legal advice.

Dalton reaffirmed his guilt in the same court on Wednesday.

Psychiatric and psychological reports will be prepared ahead of sentencing in the West Australian Supreme Court later this year.

"Mr Dalton has mental health issues," his lawyer said.
