Dog found shot dead after it escaped during storms

A family is heartbroken after their pet dog was found dead with bullet holes in its head.

Perth owner Melissa Parry says it makes her feel sick to her stomach that someone could do that to her pet, beloved nine-year-old Roxy.

"I found her on the tracks, she had been hit by a train but her head was still intact with two shotgun wounds in her head," she said.

"One was shot through her mouth and one was shot straight through the head… pretty much execution.

"You don't want to know someone would do this to a much loved family pet - who would do that?"

Roxy escaped during Saturday night's thunderstorms.

"I definitely think there is someone out there doing it on purpose which is disgusting," she said.

"The kids loved her, everybody loved her - she was a much-loved family pet."

The disturbing find follows the shooting of a cat with a 75cm arrow in Ellenbrook.

A veterinary examination revealed the wound was infested with maggots and the arrow might have been stuck in the cat's head for up to two days.

The ginger tabby cat was found on Withnell Drive in Ellenbrook.

Nicknamed Beau, the cat has undergone surgery to remove the arrow and is now recovering well.
