Brake light fault behind abnormal landing

A faulty brake indicator light in the cockpit of a Jetstar flight from Bali to Perth caused it to make an abnormal but safe landing, the airline says.

The captain on flight JQ117 from Denpasar asked for a clear runway after he saw the light and had to keep the plane in a holding pattern until the runway could be cleared for the landing.

The plane had to make three go-arounds while waiting but there was no problem with the braking system during the landing.

Jetstar said engineers were looking into what caused the fault.
