Dramatic helicopter rescue of two sailors who drifted offshore

Two Victorians were rescued last night after their ship went rogue - 750 metres away from the shore.

Video footage shows a Victorian Police Air Wing helicopter winching the sailors to safety just off Victoria's Great Ocean Road.

Dramatic helicopter rescue just off Victoria's Great Ocean Road. The Police Air Wing winched two people to safety overnight, as their stricken boat drifted aimlessly - 750 metres offshore.

The pair can be seen sitting on the bow of the ship, huddled together under a blanket before police got to them.

The pair made it ashore safely, without any injuries.
