Two people escape Vic house fire

Two people had a lucky escape after they were woken up by an explosion caused by a fire in their inner Melbourne home.

After waking to the loud bang, the residents were helped by a neighbour to safety from the Northcote house, which ignited just before midnight (AEDT) on Wednesday.

Fire crews arrived to find the back of the house well alight.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire will be determined on Thursday, the MFB said.
