And this morning, his interview with Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Samantha Morton revealed a fun surprise Holland got to fulfil once he knew he had scored the role of Odysseus’ son, Telemachus.

“I got the call to meet with (Nolan) and he gave me the script, I came home and I probably shouldn’t have done this... it probably goes against the Nolan protocol, but Zendaya and I read it together and we were like, jumping around the house,” Holland told Today.

Hathaway was stunned her co-star was allowed to take the script home to read, but he put it down to his dyslexia and that he would need time to properly process the story and his role.

“I was blown away by the part and the offer, I went to meet with him the next day to obviously say I want to do this movie and then he asked me if I’d mind if he asked Zendaya to play Athena,” Holland said.

But Holland was thrilled at the thought of being able to star alongside his wife in another project (the duo met filming the Spider-Man films) and he asked if he could be the one to share the exciting news with Zendaya.

“I remember when I got home, she was like, ‘How was it? How was it?’ And I said ‘It was great, but hold on’ and I handed her the script and said ‘You should read this again’, She was like, ‘But I read it yesterday’ and I said, ‘No, no, no, trust me... you should read it again, but just read Athena really closely.’

“And the little corners of her mouth just pricked up and she was like, ‘What are you saying?’ I was like, ‘He asked me to tell you, do you want to play Athena?’ and it was one of the best, most amazing things - It was awesome.”
