Julie Bishop: 'She epitomized everything that was great about our country'
Former foreign minister Julie Bishop has paid tribute to Olivia Newton-John for raising the profile of Australia on the world stage.
"She was a huge draw card in the United States," Bishop told Today.
"We held this G'Day USA event every year. Olivia Newton-John was always the top of my list. I wanted Olivia there because she would draw such a crowd.

"She had a massive impact in raising awareness about Australia - I think she was emblematic of what everybody thought Australia was about. The outdoor lifestyle, with her radiant looks and girl-next-door persona.
"She epitomized everything that was good and great about our country."
