Nicole Kidman is jetting off to New York for another project just days after flying to Sydney to surprise fans at an early screening of Practical Magic 2.

While Kidman, 59, was in Sydney, she sat down with Today’s Richard Wilkinson, explaining how she manages her hectic work schedule.

“I’m learning lines right now for the show I’m doing in New York,” she said.

“It’s interesting, I’ve worked since I was 14, I used to have an almost photographic memory, but now I have to really study in terms of the lines.

“Maybe it’s because I have so many lines going through my head, but I used to read it once and learn it; now I have to do more than that.”

Kidman just wrapped up season two of Amazon’s Scarpetta, Lioness season three and she’s returning to her role as Celeste Wright in Big Little Lies next year.

She then revealed that after her short trip to Sydney, she’s heading to New York to keep working.

“I’ve always said, I’m a worker, I was born a worker, I love work, I love being given the opportunities I’m given,” Kidman said.

The Aussie star said she took on Practical Magic 2 because it was a lighthearted and fun project.

“It’s a little bit of joy. A lot of times I do things that are pretty heavy, this is something I get to do [that’s fun], my daughters love the first film, I get to bring this to Australia, I get to come back to Sydney with it... I was determined to get back to Sydney.”

Kidman personally welcomed the audience ahead of the film and handed out midnight margaritas for a special toast.

“Stand up everyone, and raises your glasses,” she said to the packed theatre.

The actress, who returns as Gillian Owens in the highly anticipated sequel, wandered through the cinema to cheers fans with their own drinks in hand.

“Sandy says hi,” said Kidman sending well wishes from co-star Sandra Bullock, who returns as on-screen sister Sally Owens after 28 years.

“She’s in Texas doing the same thing that I’m doing, but I’m here in Sydney with you.

“All of you found the film and have supported it, and it was kind of like us answering the calling. So hopefully, you love it as much as we do.

“It’s really lovely 28 years later as women to be able to still be here. So thank you for decades and decades of support,” she told fans. “I love you.”
