As a four-time Australian Olympic swimmer, Emily Seebohm knows what it's like to be under intense pressure.

But nothing could prepare her for her biggest challenge yet, motherhood.

Still, the 32-year-old has taken to parenting like a champion athlete to water and she brought her new son Sampson in to meet the Today team.

Karl and Sarah gushed over the one-year-old, who was happy chilling as his mum spoke with the hosts.

"I don't think I've seen a more chill child in my life," Karl said before swooping in for a cuddle with Sampson.

But while Emily admitted she has been "very lucky" with Sampson's temperament, she did admit motherhood as a professional athlete had it's challenges.

"Probably the most difficult has been training with Sampson, obviously when he was younger, waking up through the night and feeding him, then going to training in the morning," she said.

"So sometimes that has been quite a struggle to get myself up and going to swimming, but also coming back to him has been the best part too, because I see his smiling face in the morning and we get to do all these fun things and sort of relive being kids again, which is fun."

With Paris 2024 being so close to when Sampson was born, Emily didn't make it to this year's Games.

But she said it was incredible to watch Australia's record medal haul as a spectator back home.

"I would have loved to have been over there, but with Sampson, we were sort of up for those early mornings anyway," she said.

"So it was easy to get up and watch the swimming and have something that I can hopefully later, share with him as all the experiences that I got to have."
